Sunshine, a sun conure
Hello everyone. I have a Sun Conure that is about 2-3 years old. We received her after my husband's uncle passed away. She has been fun and did cling to only me since we got her. Well now that she has been here for a few months, she is getting to know my husband, enjoys our son giving her treats, and getting frisky on my shoulder and her toys. I know I should calmly put her back in her cage when she does this on me, but should I remove the toys in her cage too? I do not want to stop all contact with her myself, but it seems like every time I take her out thats all she wants to do. Please help...

I wouldnt let her do this on you. Just put her down & walk away. I wouldnt take her toys away, this behavior is natural. If you take the toys, she'll use the perches, etc. You may try making sure she is getting 12 hrs of darkness, might trick her system into not believing its mating season.

Thank you, I will definitely try it. :)

Puck tries to mate with me and my boyfriend. We don't encourage it, but he sure tries. I wish he'd try on his toys instead of on me... It's healthy for them to do, just not with humans.

Yeah, at first it started with the regurgitating next to my thumb, and now it has gone to rubbing on my shoulder. It is weird and I understand it is normal for them. I just did not know what I should do about it. She definitely picked me out of the family to be attached to. I go to work and she is quiet all day long, accept for a few little peeps and sounds. As soon as I get home, she sqwaks loud and crazy. But we did cover her for 12 hrs last night, so we will see how it works out.
