Not sure what a sunburst conure is....
But yours does look like a Sun. :) so no worries there. Still lots of green on the wings but if your bird is young it will likely turn more yellow/orange with the coming molts. :)

She is just starting her first molt.

Sunburst isn't the common name for any conure!
Must be a hybrid. Maybe Sun and Jenday? But then isn't that a Sunday?

Anyway, Sunburst sounds like someone is trying to create appeal with a 'designer' name!

Yup.. I've heard of 'Sundays' 'nansuns' and 'sun cheeks' but never sunburst. If she is just starting her first molt I'm not too concerned of her being a hybrid. :) regardless, she is beautiful!

-Looks to me that they are the same (a sun conure) just that sunburst means it has more red than a normal. Basically a red factor sun conure just fancily named sunburst instead of red factor.
-Your birdy looks like a cute normal sun to me :)

Where was the image posted of the "sunburst"?

I did come across an ad for a "Tropical Sun Kissed Conure".... I'm assuming it's just a sun conure.

There are sun x jenday x gold cap hybrids, known as "Hawaii Sunrise" conures, although I think someone else may have called them a "Hawaii Sunset"?

Radar's Roost - Home

-"There is a color variation called the Sunburst Conure which is mostly yellow in color and slightly larger than a Sun Conure."
Well wait I found this quote here http://www.petco.com/caresheets/bird/Conure.pdf
-So instead of more red it has more yellow i guess. But I still think yours looks to be normal.

I'd never trust what Petco says! LOL

Heck, they have a photo of a *Maroon Bellied Conure* as their image of a green cheek conure!

Higgin's does have a food product that they call "Sunburst Conure". They also have a "Sunburst Cockatiel" but there are no 'sunburst cockatiels' out there!

I could potentially see where Petco is talking about pied sun conures.... but I've never heard the pied sun conures called "sunburst conures".

- See I was thinking it was a name that Petco came up with for that color. Like at Petsmart a yellow sided green cheek conure is called a fancy green cheek conure.

Fancy is the term used for any mutation that is not "normal". Really bugs me, tbh.

I have heard of a Sunburst before. There is a breeder, though I cannot remember where. I think it is a sun/jenday mix then color selected and then bred to second and third generation.

Black Forest - Green Cheek x Black Cap
Blueday - Blue crown x Nanday
Jencap - Jenday x Gold Cap
Nancap - Nanday x Gold Cap
Nanjen - Nanday x Jenday
Nansun - Nanday x Sun
Suncap - Sun x Gold Cap
Sunday - Sun x Jenday

Hawaii Sunrise - Sun x Jenday x Gold Cap

Conan - Hahns x Sun; Multi-Generation Hybrid bred back to suns

It was actually at Petco that I was told that the bird was a Sunburst but it looked exactly like my Sun Conure so I was very confused! I am almost a year into learning about birds and I still feel like I know NOTHING!!! LOL

I would suggest ignoring what Petco says then! :D lol

I've had birds for over half my life and I'm still learning! And there are several members here who have had birds longer than I have! :)
