I have a 5 month old hand fed GCC. Had him now for about 2 months. From day one he was super sweet and didn't show fear even when we drove an hour to get him. He is a love bug, especially to me. I can do al,ost anything with him. He is good with everyone ( except my 10 year old but that's a different story). Today he was being cute and making kissing noises so I brought him out to hang with me in the kitchen on his perch like I have done hundreds of times. If he isn't on a play perch he is on his playtop cage during the day so he is out most of the day. Well today, as soon as I put him on his perch he started acting weird. Fearful, still and quiet. He wouldn't let me pick him up. He flew away from me all over the floor while I tried to pick him up. Finally I cornered him and got him on my hand. I sat with him for 10 minutes talking softly and doing the missy noise I always do. Then I held him close, he loves to sit in my hand like its a nest and snuggle down and purr! I slowly walked him back to his cage and he ran into his birds bed tent to hide from me. I put water with apple cider vinegar in his cage and a new piece of millet. He came out after I left the room to eat his millet but anytime I go by the cage he runs and hides again. My husband picked him up fine but now he acts terrified of me!!! This is so strange. I went and changed clothes and put my hair up to see if he would still be afraid and he is. Is this normal? Why would be become afraid of me overnight? Yesterday he was all snuggles and we played off and on all day! He did this to my husband once where he couldn't come near him for about 3 days but now they are fine. But my husband never snuggled and played with him like I did. He interacts with him a lot more now. Any advice?
