Parrots
Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
...a.k.a. molting.. Seems like my kids just did that..now they are at it again  I'm finding sleeves and rudders all around the house, especially BB's coz he likes to zoom here and there.
Even David's gert (aka CAT) is stripping. Missy is a very pretty, long haired kitty, all black with big green eyes. Even though David runs the rake thru her coat at least twice a week I'm finding all sorts of fluff balls everywhere also.
Must be the season for all critters big and small to get their winter duds on I guess.

Huh... I’ve noticed that my big boy Brutus (dog) has started growing in his winter coat, but my oldest boys are nearly finished with their molt... *shrug*

My macaw just seems to "explode" every once in a while but mostly in the spring. He has days where the feathers just fall off constantly and some days I find like 4 down feathers and that's it. The record I've counted so far since I've had him was 54 feathers overnight in and around his bedtime cage, this was in the spring. I've been collecting feathers to have Squeekmouse make me a plushy out of them soon so I pick em all up. I count them when there's a lot.

I find it hilarious how those down feathers just get everywhere, sometimes they just show up in front of your face and you casually just blow them away like it's such a habit. Do that at work and it looks odd to most but feels normal for you. lol

Good grief, I have hair, fur, feathers and who knows what everywhere. Looking at my bird she is mainly green, some red and yellow thrown in with a splash of blue. What's up with all the WHITE down feathers? Even when I ruffle thru her feathers I don't see that many pure white feathers. You would almost think they were smuggling a cockatoo in thru the doggy door and partying it up whilst I slumber....:22_yikes:

We manufacture some print items from a home business and have a couple of HUGE 9 foot printers and my hubby goes crazy running around chasing down all day.

I have a big pile of sleeves and rudders and a few under fluffies donated by the kids that I plan on sending to our wonderful/very talented Ms. Gail ( SHHHH don't let her know!) so she can make something to wave in front of the Rickeybird ;)

Downy feathers differ just enough between Winter variant and Summer variant that those Parrots even on the Southern edge of the Great White North will dump the Summer variant in preparation for Winter. So, that explains the inside Snow Storms in both the Spring and Fall.

This year's Weather in the Great White North! Spring Came Late and the Gales of November came early (mid September through all of October) And now, for the big swings of very deep Cold Fronts and we have Parrots who are confused as to whether to slowly change Downy Feathers or rush to get the Winter set in place quickly! Hence, Start, Stop, Start, Stop. It is not easy on them either!

Amy is ever Healthier and is prepping for a Show Stopper Presentation of: I'm a vibrate Blue-Fronted Amazon Male... Enjoy Ladies!!!
But, before that happens, the molt must happen..

As for BB's Same Story!

And yes, the Ladies are just as confused and also prepping!

FYI: Jim Stripping maybe just a bit risky of a term... :D:D:D
But, I Loved the Image good friend.
