We brought Hannah back to the vet today and she had lost another 9 grams. They drew blood and she passed out. They gave her oxygen and then kept her on a heating pad with heat lamps. The vet said she was very critical and a couple of hours later, she went to birdie heaven. The vet was nice enough to do a necropsy after work and called us. She had a huge blockage way down in her digestive track. If we had done an x-ray, there was a slight chance they would have seen it. They found a straw like substance mixed with string like substance. We are not sure what she got into as she has been vomitting since late June. There was a couple of rope toys in her cage and 2 cages above her, a rope ball with string like substance. She wasn't out that often as she liked to hang out in her cage with the door open. I am going to get the ball of string stuff from the vet tomorrow and we will look everywhere to see what she got into. I am scared now of any rope toys. Just thought I would share this in case their bird starts to vomit. Very sad since she was our mating momma and had a mate. I am not sure if we should wait to find him another mate or get on soon. Any suggestions? Thank you from bird lover in Arizona!!
