Shine's eye looks a lottttt good after starting her on gatifloxacin but mucous of last few days (days before starting the gatifloxacin) has resulted in a sticky formation of mucous and feathers around eye. We tried loosening it using water and an attempt to rub in that area with my fingers but it's a bit hard!!

I would just mist her daily with water in that area right BEFORE you put her eyedrops in, as you don't want to wash-away the medication, nor do you want to irritate her eyes anymore, or introduce new bacteria into them, or start pulling out feathers...once she's feeling better she'll most-likely start trying to clean it up, or it's possible that you'll have to bathe the area with some gentle soap like a dishwashing detergent later on after she's better, but for right now I'd just mist them with water before each application of her eye drops, pat the area dry, and then apply her eye drops. It will wear-off in time. Right now her eyes are already too irritated and swollen to mess with too much, and you don't want to end-up washing the medication out of them either. The gentle daily misting of the area with water before you put the drops in should wash it away gradually.

That's the best option out there I believe. I'll follow that only :)
