Step up to a cockatiel?

Is a cockatiel a good step up from a lovebird?I have all lovebirds and I would like to step up to a bit bigger bird.Are cockatiels mich bigger than lovebirds?Ive seen them before but I can't remember how much bigger they are than them.And any advice on if I should get a cockatiel or is there some other bird thats just a little bigger than a lovebird?

Cockatiels are wonderful birds to have, just a bit dusty because they have Feather dust...I would advice getting a male, but females are just as sweet, but they don't sing like the boys do. They're just a bit bigger then a lovebird, but not much. You can not mix Lovebirds with most of the other birds cause Lovebirds can be very mean towards other types of birds and terrorizes them!

I know that.I don't wantmy lovebirds in with any other birds anyways.

I have a male whiteface pied cockatiel and he is an amazing bird. I would definitely get a male... I feel they are much more interactive than the girls, but thats just my opinion.

'Tiels are terrific birds. And a bit bigger than Lovebirds. The males will usually talk better than females, and are more noisy. But, if you put in the time, some females can talk as well as males. Plus, some males don't talk at all. Both are equally affectionate, and cuddly. Either sex make great pets.

Cockatiels are terrific birds, but from what I have read I believe Love Birds are concidered more Parrot like out of the two and is also though to have more inteligence. I bought my cockatiel then my lovebird, the lovebird demands masses more attention and acts like a baby (they are both very young), the lovebird wants more attention than the cockatiel and runs on love. I would say cockatiels were on the same level as love birds, and in physical size, they are bigger but not by loads, in my birds case anyway... they are nowhere near as agile as my lovebird. If I was going to step up from what I have now I'd get a Senegal to be honest. As my mum is "sensitive to noises" and senegals are considered quiet birds (not my only reason for wanting one). Yeah I actually just heard about a senegal the other day.I never heard of the bird before that so i've been looking into them.And quiet is very good.The chirping I actually like but at the moment I am living with my parents and they really don't want me to get a bigger bird cause its bigger noise haha

I don't think you've been around enough Cockatiels to really know their intelligence! I raised hundreds of them at one point...I've also raised Lovebirds as well, Lovebirds are wonderful but they can get pretty nasty towards other birds unless they were raised together as youngsters! I raised a Lovebird with a Cockatiel once and they were best buddies, but the Lovebird will pester any other Cockatiels. The intelligence part varies from bird to bird, you just never know! As the part with Senegals not being noisy birds, I beg the differ! But at the same time, it varies from Senegal to Senegal. I've seen a Senegal bird that just sits there and not do a thing. But I've seen that with a few Cockatiels as well but very rare! A Lovebird just keeps on going and going and going like little energizer bunnies!!!

ah yes!They are like little energizer bunnies lol I've had my one lovebird for over a year now but I never took much time with her now like I do and they are amazing little birds but they just go and go and go.I'm really getting into birds now and I can now see my lovebirds personalitys and how much they love me

Yeah, my lovebird and cockatiel are still getting used to eachother, recently started grooming eachother, the lovebird is just incessant and appears to have almost bully-like traits. They are both amazing birds, but I personally wouldnt say one was a step up from the other. A senegal baby though... that would be the bomb

Lovebirds run on love.

And what I wrote about lovebirds demanding more attention than cockatiels will be "my birds" specific. (lovebird would rather sleep on me that anywhere else, and cockatiel likes some alone time every now and again.)

Yep, My Senegal Tiki has a squawk that can raise the dead and she doesn't mind using it either. It's also one of those really irratating squawks as well. It reminds me of someone dragging their finger nails across a chaulk board. Apartment birds my foot hahahahaha.
