My first bird was a parakeet named Buddy (passed away November 8, 2012). My newest friend is a parakeet named Chipper.
Why do parakeets start randomly squawking for no reason? Usually they squawk when they're scared or mad, but sometimes it seems like they squawk for no reason. Chipper was chirping, but then he started squawking his little head off. I got worried, and I thought maybe he was scared or hurt. But he was fine and sitting on a perch. I thought maybe he wanted to come out of his cage. Nope. Then I thought maybe he was hungry...nope, he had plenty of food and water. Buddy sometimes used to squawk for no reason too, although Chipper does it more. Is it just a bird thing?

I think its a bird thing, my Amazon starts calling cause he can LOL and its fun. They do their flock calls, they are programmed that way.

That's one of the things that make budgies such a joy. Their constantly changing chatter. Why do they do it? Because they can! I've been guardian to many birds, of all kinds, and budgies have always been such humorous companions.

O ya my budgies will be sitting there looking calm then all of a sudden will jump up start screeching then start beating up a toy lol

Mine doea that too when i take a nap at noon. Squirtle will see me crawling into my bed and oit of no where, he chirps ans sqwarks for my attention

It's a budgie thing. My budgie was sleeping soundly on his thermo perch, next thing you know he was doing a sneak attack on his other cage mate sprite. You could just imagine the screeching after that
