I have had him over 12 years. Vary Independent and happy. His beak had saw marks on it when I got him. I and the vet worked with it but it never did grow.

poor guy, glad he is happy and healthy :)

Do you have to maintain the beak to keep it right or is he able to do that pretty much himself?

Spirit is harness trained and will eat anything I give him. Not much to be petted he just loves to hang out with me or get on the floor and rampage around. Cats run from him , just last week he grabbed the whiskers of the young male we have and bounced his head off the cement floor a few times.
He has a sad back story. When we got him it was from a lady who was selling him and a zon. The zon was so sick it could not perch and Spirit here was in a cage way to small to spread his wings. I got him and found a group to help the zon. When he got home he sounded just like a little old lady dying. he would cough and cry "Help me) in a vary soft ladies voice, the worst was when he would mimic the death rattle. and say "bye bye" :(
I renamed him and started training, he had major fear issues and still will not trust a guy. I would not say we are best of friends. More like roommates who know each other well and put up with what ever they do. Now he loves any one with grey hair, and i have thought about re-homing him, but he has been through enough. This is his for ever home.

I have to work on the bottom weekly. I have never need to do anything to the top , well once he flew into a window and split it and I supper glued it with the glue i use to use for corals for my reef tank.

No she did not. :( She had cataracts on both eyes and a over grown beak. When you walked into the room she would scream and fall to the floor onto her back to protect her self. Her malnutrition was so great and they found out later she had internal injures and bone breaks from hitting the floor so much she could not pull out of it. She was put down 4 days after we got her out. I think she is why when I saw Danny in that small cage with his beak issues I could not walk away as much as I really could not afford him at this time. Luckly my kids like beans and rice :D

Different kind of injury than what Charlie has, but at least Spirit appears happy and healthy now!!! And full of spunk! LOL

I was so happy to find out Danny would have a normal beak! If I had two with short beaks people would really think I was doing it my self!
