Rowdy is missing most of a talon as well, but it's never seemed to affect her. I guess some other bird bit it off before I got her. And the cat has Inflammatory Bowel Disease and urinary problems. And Pete has malnutrition issues from his previous home. I have pancreatitis and chronic Lyme. Aren't we a house!

Lol, I know how you feel. Aside from Dara with the mangled leg and Marley with the busted shoulder I have Lola (my cat) who also suffers from UTI's as do I. I give Lola 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar with 'The Mother' in it (split between morning and arvo feeds) every day. It works better from her than all the anitbiotics do. I also only feed her tinned food or raw meat and I add water to her food to dilute the vinegar and get extra fluid into her.

Yeah, I also have a bird with a damaged shoulder who can flap enough to not crash land but can't get any lift. As well as Dara with her mangled leg. Can Pepper fly at all Rio Mom?

Is the damaged shoulder a permenant thing or will it heal? So it's like having a clipped bird... but without being clipped? :(

It is permenant. My boyfriend found him on the side of the road on his way to visit me one day. He had obviously been clipped by a car. We took him to a vet who said put him down, he will be in pain and have a horrible life. But he could still kinda move it and I just couldnt bring myself to put him down till I had given him a chance. Recently took him and Dara to a proper avian vet and he said that Marley isn't in pain and told me various ways to let him get exercise and keep entertained in his cage as taming him will be a mega hard process being a previously wild bird. At least he can flap enough to prevent crash landings. I was quite worried about that.

I have been gathering soo much information about both these birds disabilities and I would love to be able to help others with these amazing little fighters.
