Sootie just pulled out her preening feather!

...not all of it, there's still a little bit of white there but i think she tugged out about half. Is this normal!? It seemed to come out on it's own- no tugging or jumping/ peeping as though she was plucking it.

Sometimes when a feather is ready to go, they'll give it a little tug and get it out. It doesn't hurt because the feather is ready to come out naturally, so no jumping or pulling. Nothing to worry about

I was told it's quite normal, since my conure pulled a feather off herself and started chewing on it!

Sheldon brings a tail feather around and uses it to comb through his head feathers. it looks awful, but to him it serves a purpose.
