Ollie McBudgie the Fluffinator
Ollie's been molting since I got him. He itches and squeaks at his feathers all the time. I found this product: https://www.mysafebirdstore.com/product.cgi?group=27183&product=38548 The ingredients are distilled water and Aloe Vera. I have aloe plants and distilled water. I can make it at home but I also read that aloe needs to be rinsed off to avoid ingestion. The commercial spray doesn't say anything about rinsing. Does anyone know which is right? I don't want to subject him to traumatic rinsing.

It's made for birds so it's probably fine used as directed. I did have a "strange" experience with a morning bird product a couple years ago. I bought their hand feeding formula and fed some to my three week old baby budgie. The next morning her poop had turned pinkish and I thought she was passing blood. Emergency vet said there was no blood and the baby was fine. It was some harmless Ingredient that that stained her poops. Scared me so I didn't use it again.

I am sooooooooooooo paranoid and jumpy about anything other than basics. Vitamins scare me; feather sprays scare me; processed foods scare me. I would just use plenty of distilled water, sprayed or in a pan for bathing...
Good luck!

Thank you! He does get offered a daily bath in distilled water but it doesn't seem to stop the itching :( I may be paranoid too, because I dry all the tap water off of his dishes now after washing them. He would suck up every little bead instead of drinking his clean filtered water...little bugger!
