Soon to be a new fid in our flock

Ok - so the lady (me) who said that she didn't like Amazons will soon be the owner (hopefully) of a new Zon. It looks like he could use a lot of TLC ... or some new feathers. His current name is Speckles and I want to change it. I'm thinking Fuzzy is appropriate for now.

(I couldn't get the pic to post so I tired a URL. Sorry- I'm not at my regular computer and I won't be back for a while.)

I talked with my vet and he gave me the game plan - same one we all do who go to the vet - exam, trim, blood tests, etc. and quarantine.

I'm also going to order a double stacked cage so that I don't have to take up any more floor space in my HUGE family room. A lot of my problems have been if I have too many cages then I get overwhelmed.

So - the new supplies have already been delivered to my house...except the cage. You know - toys, perches, foraging toys for them both, of course supplies to make new toys, and some more treats. Ok - so I went overboard what else is new?

I'm expecting the cage to arrive tomorrow after I go to pick up Speckles. My plan is to set up the new cages (it's a double stacker) for Whisper and then let Speckles do his quarantine in the single cage. So cage swapping.

I am so excited...I just hope I can sleep tonight.

He is gorgeous! I can't wait to see him after he has flourished in your loving care Please post more pics after you bring him home! So did you decide on Speckles or Fuzzy? I don't think Fuzzy will fit him for long

I think I'm going to leave it Speckles. I'm hoping he isn't fuzzy for too long. I'm really hoping that it isn't anything more than diet or companionship problems and that after several months and a good molt he will have better feathering. However I kind of like his rumpled look.

Jeez - I just looked at the clock and I still have over 24 hours to go before I see him. Ugh!!
