Sometimes they like the simplest things.
I made a few toys from what I had laying around the house, and purchased a few toys. My Quaker seems to like and play with the ones I made vs the store bought ones like:
Bottle caps. I strung some bottle water bottle caps and placed them on her perches, and on and in cage, she loves them
I cut up some cardboard into different shapes, triangle, rectangle etc... String them up and she loves them.
Used the center cardboard of Paper towels and toilet paper, cut into sections, placed in and on cage around branches and perches, she love them
Rope, I purchased some Natural Twisted Sisal Rope, and did a lot of things with it. Hung toys with it, wrapped around perches and branches, I left a little of the ends and untwisted them. She loves to play with the ends.
Plastic drinking strews, cut in half ties to the ends of a rope, placed at the bottom of toys, used as toy spacers, etc. she just loved them.
Now I did purchase some plastic chain and did the same with them, and she loved them as well…
And Bamboo Finger Traps, and some Rattan Balls that she plays with as we..
I guess what I’m saying is that my Quaker is a Parrot, she does not know if you made it or purchased them, but she does let you know which toys she likes the best.

does it really have to look good to you, or does it have to be appealing to her? I think her.
