Parakeets (2) with cage, supplies (Land Park)

I have two parakeets with a cage, supplies, etc., that need a new home. One is blue, and one is green. They've been great pets -- very low maintenance and no drama -- great for a small child who is too young to take care of a cat or a dog. I got them for my daughter when she was two, but we recently got a cat and the birds could use a new home at this point.

I bought them and the cage at a pet store a little more than a year ago. They will come with cage, extra bedding, cage toys, extra food, food and water dishes -- everything you need. I think everything cost me about $120. Parakeets are supposed to live with at least one other bird, so they have to go as a pair.
I am asking for a "re-homing" fee of $45 for the birds and cage and everything.

Location: Land Park

Some people think parakeets and fish are more or less disposable.

Very sad. I read a similar one, (the paragraph I put in bold is the part that made me cringe):

I am re-homing my 2 Lovebirds and my Parakeet.

Lovebirds are a male and female pair.

Parakeet is a male.

All are tame and healthy.

I just bought a baby conure that requires a lot of attention...and now I don't have time for all my other birds.

The two lovebirds are housed together.

All of them are about 6 months old.

2 Lovebirds with cage: $90

1 Parakeet with cage: $25

bird, birds, love birds, parakeets, cage, cages, lovebird, cockatiel, parrot, parrots,

Just plain mean...

After I had my son I ran a website to help rehome unwanted dogs and cats. The reasons many of them needed a new home was pathetic. I remember one guy had a 12yr old Collie, his wife was about to have a baby and they decided they didn't want the dog anymore. He told me if I didn't find the dog a home by the end of the week he'd have it put down!!!! This poor dog has given him 12yrs of love and loyalty, probably only had a couple of years left at best and this is how the owner is going to reward it. I guess when you look at how people treat each other what chance so the animal kingdom have ....... unfortunately we can be a pretty crappy species

I am do disappointed with the human race.
Some people should not have any pets at all.
When something "better" arises are they going to get rid of the cats?

This week I was looking at the local animal shelter's available adoptions and there were two fifteen year old cats. They had been at the shelter since the same day so I assume they came from the same home and may have even been litter mates. I would guess that the owner died or became too ill to take care of them. My heart just went out to those poor cats. I have a 15 year old cat and I can't imagine it being stuck in an animal shelter. How many people will want to adopt cats that may only have a few years to live? If I wasn't living in a 900 sq ft condo, I would have two more cats right now.

Oh and this is the ad I saw the other day that made me mad:

I have a tame nanday conure bird for BARTER.

Things I would consider:

XBOX 360
IPHONE +
A QUIETER TAME BIRD
$250 CASH
OR YOU MAKE ME AN OFFER FOR TRADE (PRICE IS FIRM $250)

That's sick and wrong... how selfish. Why not spend some quality time with the bird? He'll become quieter, and more tame each day.

I read something similar, only it was the other way around. Someone was offering an Xbox 360 for an amazon parrot. If he thinks that a parrot is worth nothing more than an Xbox 360, imagine the 'TLC' that parrot is recieving right now.

Not much, I'd imagine. The reason I don't have a larger parrot is because I don't have enough time and attention to spare, not to mention room. The people posting the adds should have thought about what commitments they needed BEFORE getting one.

We've been really busy this weekend and I've felt terrible that Max and Jade have spent so much time in their cages. Our boys have been home and spent time with them, but still...

I can't believe the people who just don't care. Birds and pets are just accessories to them.

I have a large green powder coated cage in good condition.
Includes a free cockatoo for adoption with purchase of the cage.
Contact me for complete details.

What!? My budgies are worth more than their cage but not to me! I wonder how much all my budgies would be worth? One was sold a few days ago so I now have 5. Two proven breeders, a possible new mutation, and two hand tamed bubs? Also unusual wing patterns in all of them. If I was selling them the cage would not come before them! The only way I'd put the cage before the bird would be if I was buying one, because then I'd have to check to see if it was safe.
