Something thick in my sun conure cheek

Hi All,

Can some one tell what is there in my sun conure cheek... My conure is 45 days old. This thing appear when he was 30 days or something now I feel it's getting bigger...he is all ok rest everything.

Pls some one tell is this anything to worry about? He is not allowing to touch that side... Other side cheek I use to massage he likes it..

That doesn't look right. I'd say check in with a CAV to be safe.

Yes, it may be quite serious. Go to a vet as soon as you can.

I would think that could be some sort of infection from a feeding injury making his skin thickened at the beak closure. He needs to be checked by a veterinarian and that area treated. This isn’t something you can fix yourself.

Looks like infection....but as all have said definitely get your baby to the avian veterinarian. Needs help and you dont want anything to deform beak , or get into the bone

I thought that the skin at the place the beak closes was very thickened. If it’s just hardened formula, that’s completely different. I tried to zoom in on the photos and I guess now I’d have to say I can’t quite tell.

I'm almost certain it's just hardened formula that needs to be cleaned up with warm water and some massaging. Looks identical to when I worked in a bird shop and the babies were messy eaters. Very common and can be prevented by cleaning them up after a feeding. Easy to fix just warm water. it would make sense that the bird would be sensitive with that side being touched since it would be pinching the feathers causing some discomfort. So hopefully it's just that and nothing more serious.

Yeah warm, wet soft cloth and see if that removes it. But thats a LOT of hardened formula if it is indeed that. SHould be on both sides of his beak if its formula.
If that cloth doesnt help - see a Certified Avian Vet.
