Fargo- Blue and Gold Macaw
Ok he did it..

I am just amazed!!!

It took Fargo FIVE training sessions to completely master how to somersault... I cant believe it..

I thought it would be weeks before he would do it on command, but nope!

He even does it when i dont ask, which is hilarious, we sit on the floor and he starts rolling around hahaha

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooDCx4MDwCg&feature=youtu.be"]Fargo somersaulting trick - YouTube[/ame]

But i need help! There is the competition of your parrot doing a trick, and i did submit Fargo sticking his tongue out, and then i changed it to the one where he was hanging upside down playing dead, eyes closed, tongue out..

But now i think i will submit somersault, cause that is pretty impressive right?

You can only have one photo, and i have NO idea which to choose..

So can you guys pretty please tell me which is the best?

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

6.

7.

and then just these funny ones of his landing

So guys, which one should i enter?!?
I am leaning towards 3,4 7!

Wow he is so smart. I would go number 3 or 4. I jus love the last one though. Such a clever boy.

WOW, that was AWESOME!!!! :D

Tab, I honestly think it will be very difficult choosing the right photo because Somersault is like a whole event of motions he goes through. All the photos are great, but unless you know what he's doing, you could also call some of them "headstand" ....or "Fargo Yoga".. Look at picture 8, looks like the perfect headstand. :)

My neck hurts when I look at picture 4, HAHAHAHAH!!!

Hahaha :D I am super duper proud of him, he even has the motion alot smoother now, instead of just a quick flop over like he was doing, he can roll it nicely? If that makes sense! :22:

I got mum to come in and watch, she was so impressed, then he just stuck his tongue out, then started rolling even though i wasnt asking him too! We couldnt stop laughing :p

Wendy, i think they would attach a video of him doing it so could see the trick! :)
But yes it looks like a handstand or yoga.. bowing down and worshiping me maybe? hahahahaha :54:

Or theres just the one of him playing dead hanging upside down that i could submit?
I dont know, i love his somersault trick, i dont think anyone else would have anything like it!

I just really want to win to buy Fargo some new stuff! :09:

Oh if they'll let you submit this video, the grand prize is yours. NO doubt in my mind whatsoever!!!! :D

And I agree, there won't be other submissions of a pet doing a somersault. That is SO unique!!!

That is incredible. You have a real treasure there in a macaw that is that trainable. Maybe I just can't teach an old macaw new tricks. My Scarlet Clifford will do "Wings" on command from my wife and Doogie will raise his foot and say "Hi", but nothing like that.

Haha well they shared the video on their page, and they also posted the picture, they chose number 2, which i suppose you can see him doing the flip fully! :)

Fingers crossed he wins! The people certainly love him and think he is very clever haha

Thank you Alwese!! Yes i cant believe Fargo just keeps learning and learning, i will run out of tricks before he gives up! I am very lucky to have Fargo <3

Hey the wings and waving is just the beginning, i am sure you can teach more! hehe :D

I have never seen a bird as talented as Fargo. He is absolutely amazing! He should start memorizing his acceptance speech for first place!

:DThe video is so Awesome!
I'm with Wendy, the tumble is a whole event of motions, one pic just doesn't do Fargo justice.

Glad they posted the video, do you have a link to the website? Whose Fargo's competition and when will the winner be chosen? Fargo's the winner in my eyes!:p

Hehe thanks guys! He is incredibly talented!

Its on facebook, it is through the parrot rescue center, but five grey parrots is the one who you submit the photos too!

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...ents=10&ref=notif&notif_t=photo_reply&theater

Thats the picture, then you can see the album and other pics!
Then on their page they posted the video as well!
Do you think that was the best choice of photos? :O
Thats the one they put in there, i had sent them a few!

The judges decide tomorrow night, its in like 20 hours i think! Hopefully they watch the video ! haha

When i was messaging the lady, she said, can i set you a training challenge? and i said of course!
and she said, fargo can hang upside down, but can he do it with one foot?

and i said of course he can!!! too easy ;)
So she wants a video and pictures hahahahah :09:

Fargo is amazing. I am so glad you posted that video. I love how easy he makes it look for him to do. I have been looking back through some old posts and stuff since I just got a 1.5 year old B&G and I love seeing your photos and videos.
I am hoping to start working on training Bubbles soon but have only had her a month on Saturday so I wanted to make sure she was all settled in first.
I was wondering if you don't mind my asking, What camera do you use to take your videos and how do you up load them? Meaning which program you use.
I mostly use my iphone but it seems to have a poor quality when not played back on my phone. So I was just curious on what you use.
Anyway, I hope Fargo wins because he certainly deserves it. You are doing an amazing job with him and I wanted to wish you good luck.
I hope to be able to teach Bubbles a few things but I am worried since I am starting with a bird that is not straight from a breeder that it will be difficult.
I also have an African Grey that absolutely will not train. If I try he charges me and refuses all treats. Silly Bird.
Good Luck, I hope he wins:)

Tab, I hope you guys win! (My money would definitely be on you and Fargo!) Keep everyone posted on the results! :)

Tab Tiki is in my lap and just watched the video and even she was impressed. My money is on you and Fargo:)

Thank you! He makes it look incredibly easy hey! haha

Oh i started training Fargo on his third day home, that was flight recall, then after a week we started trick training! Turning around was his first trick!

I use my ipod touch! So the quality usually sucks unless i am outside.. Then pictures i use this expensive Nikon camera haha

Depending on what i am doing with the video, if i have to add 2 videos together, or a few ones like his big trick video, i just use the windows media player movie maker, which i edit, then upload to youtube.. But if its just one video i upload to youtube straight away!

If you read my previous threads you would of seen Fargo wasnt your typical baby from a breeder, he hated being touched, and just flew away from you, even the breeders couldnt handle him, he had the nickname feral... So it wont be difficult ! Just keep training sessions very simple and short to begin with ! Always finish on a positive note.. I set a little goal, so i will say, i will help him somersault 5 times, and that will be enough for today!

Some birds just dont like trick training though! hahaha Some love it, others prefer to sit and look pretty ;)

Thank you again! :D

Fargo is awesome!! I LOVE this trick. It is so adorable. What a good bird. :) I haven't even asked Gilbert to do this, although it is a favorite trick of mine when I see birds who can do it. I think he would look at me like I was a six headed monster if I asked this of him, hahaha

Thank you! :D Haha yes it is definitely my favourite trick now

HAHAHA Fargo wondered what i was doing when i first put the treat between his legs, he must of thought i had lost my mind ;) But then he just wanted to treat so it didnt bother him ! :09:

You could always just hold the treat between Gilberts legs and see what he does! He might figure the trick out quickly! :)
