I'm not usually online on my PC and its difficult to type on a touch screen phone...so I read the posts here often, but I don't usually participate. Since you all were so kind and helpful to me during Nile's issues with his crop fistula after I first got him, I wanted to post some updated pictures of him. He will be 8 months old tomorrow and already is starting to talk. He says I love you, makes a door closing sound...often times appropriately when I enter or exit the room, and makes other vocalizations in a little Elmo voice that melts my heart. He has no ill effects from the crop fistula surgery and actually recovered surprisingly fast. In these pictures you will see him with his first trip outside in his harness today and playing with some toys. While we were walking around, I showed him our chickens from a distance...he wasn't sure of them and my rooster wasn't sure of him... He was pretty much constantly crowing while we were in sight...I really hope I won't wake up to crowing in stereo...inside from Niles and outside from the rooster haha.

Beautiful pics of him.. Im pleased to hear he has made a full recovery :)

I read your thread when I first came on the forum, and I'm glad to know he's made a full recovery! He is a very nice looking boy!

Thank You all :)

Handsome guy! Jasper looks alot like him. He is a lighter grey. How long did it take you to harness train him? I got the harness a couple weeks ago and was told I should have brought one right away and started training. He's settling in well so I thought I would work with him a little today. He actually let me put his head through the loop a couple times without complaint.

Thats what I would do, just a little bit at a time. In the video it says to not actually put the harness on unless you are going to do something fun and exciting...so that picture is from the first time he wore it in a long time. He LOVES to have his ears rubbed, so I am constantly touching his head and I practice covering his eyes like the video says. I also pick up his wings and and get him used to me moving him around. I think the most important thing is to be able to fasten the straps quickly because Niles really tries to pick at the straps and I worry that he'll panic if he feels his own resistance. If its on securely it minimizes what they can get to. Outside he tried to bite it a few times so I had a supply of almonds in my pocket. I also am now trying just to drape the harness over him so remembers feeling it on his feathers so he's ready for the next nice day and to go for another walk.
