Sunny South Africa !!!
Parrots
African "Grey"
"Mishka"
Male
7 Years old
Here in South Africa, it is the middle of winter right now.
I do not let Mishka on the balcony as it is bitterly cold.

People in the apartment building next door have two small birds, I reckon love birds or something similar.
Last night at 6pm, I was on the balcony, the temprature was 13 deg, wind blowing heavily and slight rain drops.

They had the birds outside in their cage, those poor poor birds.

They took the birds back inside at 7pm.

I am absolutely shocked, when taking the birds back inside, they had jackets on, scarves and gloves.

Just imagine how cold the birds were.

Oh my, what inconsiderate people. I didn't realize it got that cold in South Africa. I always imagined it being hot. Here in central Florida is a tad warm at 95 degrees.

You are freezing there and we are having another day with temps. over 100. I am afraid there are many people in the world who miss-treat there pets. I would love to speak to each and every one of them. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

You are so right, there are people who are just too stupid to own birds and you can't fix stupid, I just get irate over the way some people are.

I agree , some people shouldn't have children/pets....
That's just sick....I would try to talk to them , they either don't know much of anything or they are deliberely trying to hurt those poor souls.
But , IMO , it's worth a try. I don't want to put you on the spot Antoinette , but do you chat with these people at all ? Maybe you could " bump" into them somehow and mention the weather and birds , ice cubes , things like that....I'm not trying to joke here , it's a terrible , horrible , animal abusive thing they are doing.
Maybe just notify the authorities about them ?

I hear and agree with you
BUT unfortunately these people are not 'normal people'
Their next door neighbours did call the authorities, all hell broke loose.

Good news is the birds have not been outside since :D

Some people are so cruel but that's the shocking world we live in today most people don't give a flying so and so about the welfare of there animals and these people do not deserve to own any animal of any species may it be a dog cat hamster or a bird but I think I'll leave my comment at that be for I end up getting mad

Lots and lots of people should not have pets full stop

A few weeks ago, I stopped at a robot. A little dog on his leash was chained to a car tire, on the drivers side.
The poor little dog was frantically dodging the cars going by, just missed being hit.
There was nothing I could do, I had to pull off, and there was not other way back.
Wish I could have got the registration of the vehicle.. I definitely would have reported them.
Still today I wonder if the dog lived through that very traumatic experience.
