Some easy tricks?

My Jolene says i love you and pretty bird ( we didnt teach her that, she just came that way :) ). I'm now trying to teach her her name. It took a few weeks of repeating I love you for her to get it down. Now when we talk to her I say Jolene and she says pretty bird and then i ask her whats shes doing and she says i love you i love you i love you. cutest thing ever :D

Hey, I have had Roxy for over 2 months now and she is only 6 months old. They usually articulate words better when they're 18 months and older but GCCs can say words before then, like mine. So far I have heard 1 coherent word phrase from her which is "thank you". And she learned that from me saying it when she gives kisses. As of now Roxy can step up well, and like I said she gives kisses (makes a squeaky kiss noise and all :) ) She did the kiss thing all on her own, but I'm guessing it helped that I gave her a few every time I got her out of the cage. Just recently I got her to put her wings up when I say "wings up"....but she only does it right after a command if I have her favorite treat in hand (dried banana). I've tried telling her "wings up" without using a treat and she'll rarely do it :p I have a video of her doing it though and was thinking about posting it on here to show...

I've found the easiest way to teach your bird tricks is to just observe what they do naturally. For example, we have two 6 week old budgies I am hand raising, I've noticed that the one likes to climb through this plastic ring that hold one of her toys. The ring is more than twice the size of her, no chance of getting stuck. She would climb up, hop through, run back around and hop through again. Obviously she likes climbing through things so when I got her out to feed the next time, I had her run through a toilet paper tube. She absolutely loved it and it's quite adorable! All I did was hold the tube in front of her and wiggle my finger on the other end.
If you notice your bird likes to hang upside down, turn it into a trick, if he likes to hide in things, turn that into a couple different tricks. Clicker training can really help. Once your bird knows that a click means he did something good, you can use that to your advantage. If he lifts his wings give him a click and a treat, then you can start adding a voice cue to it and now your bird knows to raise his wings on command. You can do the same thing for the wave and turn around trick.
Target training is also very helpful and in my opinion, necessary training. Just by teaching your bird to target you can get your bird in and out of his cage, onto your hand and then can even advance it into things like picking up a coin and putting it in a piggy bank or picking up a ball and having him put it in a hoop.

I have 3 conures (a sun conure, jenday conure, and blue crown conure). My Sun and Jenday conure don't talk very good, but they do try to say "Love you" and "Good Bird" (although it's not real clear). My blue crown talks alot and pretty clear for a conure. He says Hello, what ya doing? I'm a pretty bird, and other things too but those are his favorite sayings. I have taught them tricks. Turn around is an easy one. Just show them the treat and have them move around in a circle while you say "Turn around", then of course, give them the treat. Pretty soon they will do it with out any help at all. Mine learned that in just a day. They can also wave, dance, do flips, and my sun can shake her head "No" when you tell her to. Conures usually love learning tricks. Your conure is adorable!!! Have fun with him! Conures have such fun personalities!!!
