Well the countdown begins my wife and I are so excited to go and rescue are BFA :green:. We are leaving in the morning at about 8 and we have a four hour drive ahead of us. We went around to every pet shop in town yesterday to purchase a new play gym, toys, and a doing ( spiral rope perch that hangs from the ceiling ). I have read so many stories on the forum about these little guys being rescued, and talk about some tear jerkers. It sounds like so many of you have rescued and gave forever loving homes and healthier lives to these amazing and deserving friends of ours. We only hope that our story is as much a success and a everlasting companionship.

Hey LTD, Don't get into too big of a hurry, Go and meet the bird but if you don't "hit it off" maybe wait and visit some more rescues. Not all amazon are created equal. Look around til you find a bird that you have a "spark" with. Many older zons can be a handful for even the most experienced parrot people,it will a lot easier to work with a bird who likes you.Just my 2 cents worth.

Thank you for rescuing! I volunteer at a bird rescue and it's sad how many amazing birds we have that need homes.

This is an exceedingly helpful and knowledgeable bunch here, so please ask any questions you have. I can't wait to see pics!

There aren't any bird rescue centers in Montana. My wife and I have a good amount of experience with exotic birds. We are not buying a bird! we are rescuing him from a bad eviroment, where he is not being cared for correctly. we are not excited to have a NEW PET. We are excited to get him moved into a healthy loving environment.

My OWA got bounced around after his owner died. He is the best friend I could ever hope to have. Congratulations on your new bundle of flying joy. I believe the zon will be so happy to be loved that bonding will be inevitable.

I understand where your coming from, it's just we see lots of people taking in rescues and thinking love and caring can fix all problems. If you have bird experience than i'm preaching to the choir and don't mean to offend you.Good luck and thanks for giving an older bird a second chance.PS welcome to the forum. Hope to see you around and feel free to ask for advice if you need any help.I've spent my whole life learning about amazons and learn something new most ever day. There are no silly or stupid questions.
