I have a lovebird named Auzzie who has layed 3 eggs for the first time i have read online how to stop her from laying eggs so I purchased dummy eggs and replaced her 3 eggs with 6 dummy eggs ,one more than a full clutch, and It seems to have worked, as far as her not laying anymore eggs right now. However I have a question for anyone who might know the right thing to do. She is in a daytime cage in the living room and is put into a sleep cage at night. I don’t want to encourage any more egg laying so I have removed anything that can trigger her to get hormonal, but I am not sure if I put dummy eggs in her sleep cage as well as her daytime cage. She originally layed her first egg in the daytime cage and then one night layed one in her sleep cage. I currently have 6 in her sleep cage and 6 in her daytime cage and she is not acting hormonal very much anymore but still is possessive with her eggs.
