Tigger seems more active at night as soon as i turn the lights down he's zooming around in the cage, hanging upside, down playing with his toys...during day he just sits on his new perch or on top of his cage tearing apart his blocks. I try to get him interested in his toys during the day he just cocks his head and gives me a are you crazy look. the previous owner worked all day and got home at like 7-9p which around 8p is when i turn the lights off and chill with my 4 year old son and watch tv. He's still not making any noise but the occassional click and some odd little noise that sounds like a laugh.

can i get him more active during day and to relax at night?

Tigger is your Umbrella Cockatoo, right?

Have you tried covering his cage at night, to see if that will help settle him down some?

he freaks if covered and yes he's my umbrella. so i wont cover it scares him. ive been leaving door open all day let him come out and sit on his cage and he tears up his blocks and throws the food thats up there at me.

Ok, he may not be used to being covered and that's why he is freaking out. You could start by partially covering him, then offer him some treats, to let him know it's ok.

Does he step up for you when you ask him to? I think it's important that he learns the step up/step down command. Do you just let him go in and out of his cage as he pleases? Try giving him some guidance and see how he does. :)

He steps up on a perch that im using. he does not like being touched at all, he'll bite you. i take him out put him on top then let him be all day, he puts himself away if i say back into your cage, he goes right in(after throwing a block on the floor first). He's ontop of his cage right now, i just took him out and placed him up there with his blocks but he put himself away again.
