Sisal rope safe?

I bought sisal rope from Canadian Tire and made a lot of toys with it, and used it for a play stand for my new green cheek conure who I will welcome into my home next week. But after using the rope I found out that some sisal rope are not safe, if they are treated with oil. How do you know if it's treated with oil?
I find it a bit scary now because I made everything with this rope, but I rather start all over if its not safe.

I just made a project for my bird using sisal rope, mine is non-treated, i have a picture of how the rope should look like. So if it looks like that, you should be fine

Thank you. Your project looks awesome! Where did you buy the sisal rope?
Mine is a lot thinner, but it really smells chemically oily. I already made the choice to start all over because I'm not going to take the chance that it's toxic.
