Silly fish, you can't eat Rosie *video*

A older video that I just found and uploaded to youtube.

I used to take Rosie to this fish specialty store, they have a massive 1500g aquarium with big marine fish. My friends and I where talking next to it when we notice the fish are staring intensely at Rosie LOL The employees tell me that whenever someone brings in a bird the fish want to eat them.

Those are some BIG fish! Amazing that they are trying to get to Rosie to eat her! I have a 150 gal salt water tank in my house and whenever I stop by it with Sweet Pea and say to her "see the fishies"... she says "want some food?"... and I always have felt that she can sense that they are hungry, lol! We feed them enough, but I think fish are always hungry to some extent...

That sounds like a awesome aquarium! I have a 10g with a male paradise fish and a 48g with 4 rainbow fish, a gourami, bristle pleco, and red eye tetras.

I looked at the photos of the fish you mentioned and they do have similar features but I don't think they look identical. I'll try to head over there some time and ask what they are and get some good photos of them. I don't think they would have illegal fish on display, I've heard that they sell illegal arowana in a back room though but it could just be a rumor. They also allow photography at the store, so they aren't hiding anything on the floor.

I'm not sure of their status in your country. Both look like very nice specimens. Grouper are very outgoing fish. The QLD grouper grows to enormous size, Im not sure why they have one. But then they also appear to have a little black tip reef shark

Wow! Your amazing, those are totally what they are! And yes, that is a black tip reef shark(you need a permit to have one, and it's very hard to get a permit). I felt bad for the black tip reef shark, sharks need to be kept in aquariums with rounded sides. This one didn't seem to be hitting his face and his skin wasn't raw at all though.
I'm amazed by how big the QLD grouper gets. That one really is just a baby! I hope they have a plan for that fish, maybe the Monterrey bay aquarium will take him in when he gets to big, or the academy of sciences. Both places are less then 2 hours away(one north one south)

I love this store for the amazing variety of fish they carry, from small neons to octopus. They also had another display tank almost as big as the one in the video with a bunch of freshwater fish, including a beautiful arowana, medium sized red tailed cat(they get huge), giant plecos, and various large fish. I've only ever bought a copper HM female betta. They used to carry a ton of dyed fish, and although they carry much less I don't like it. Plus they have bad costumer survive. I joke with my friends that the only reason I bring in Rosie is to get there attention to ask questions lol.


I looked through my friends deviant art to see if she had photos of the big freshwater aquarium, but I only found this one featuring a gold pleco, it was massive and over 2'. In the back ground is a even bigger fish.

I found a photo of the QLD grouper, they confirm it in a comment that it is a Bumblebee grouper. that must be a common aquarium name because when I googled bumblebee grouper most of the photos where of young fish in aquariums Here's the grouper when it was younger. That is a really beuatiful fish, I can see why someone would be tempted to buy one. At least they only had the one and none for sale.

They have a great pond set up, last time I was there though they had to take it down because of a leak for repairs. They usually have it deeper.

I am an avid fisher lady LOL and the QLD grouper is common to my local region. Its pretty much the only thing we call "grouper" we mostly call Epinephelus "cod" whether rock cod or reef cod etc.
They are stunning when they are babies! You have to wonder though... if they are common in aquariums labelled "bumblebee grouper", then few must reach maturity, otherwise what happens to them? They eventually lose their beautiful markings and become a HUGE obscenely ugly fish LOL Often with distorted features and just huge and black/brown rotund animal. Once they lose their juvie markings they arent appealing, other than their impressive size.

The Nassau grouper is very similar to the black cod/rock cod which is a relatively well known fish in Aus. Both have been over fished and are at some degree threatened. Interesting that they keep one!

I never much like seeing sharks in aquariums, as cool as they are to own. Especially reef sharks who are just such active and fast sharks. I would think wobbegongs would be a more appropriate aquarium shark.

They have impressive aquariums though! I would probably enjoy going there as well, even just to dream about the amazing reef tank I would have set up if I was a millionaire (and hired someone to look after it ).
