Silence when there should be sound..

Its so hard to adjust to a quiet house hold... you'd think Audrey would be the loudest... but nope.. Mini was never ever quiet. But she was so good, she always had an 'inside voice' where she would talk just like she would outside, but quieter... so sweet. And all night, even after I would cover her and go to bed I would hear kiss sounds and chatter... now its just silence eating away at me.

So hard when losing a bird, just wishing you could hear the bird one more time remembering all the wonderful times.
Did you ever record or video Mini?
If so, break the silence and watch the video or listen to the recording.

It hurts so much I do understand and know what you are feeling and going through. I could also not stand the silence it was killing me inside.

I found comfort viewing videos after a few days, after my bird went to Rainbow Heaven, remembering all the good times we shared.

Minni was beautiful and loving, she's a terrible loss. She inspired me to maybe have a budgie one day, and knowing she is gone is a heart break.

Mini was such a little character. I am uploading a couple of videos now.

Everytime I went to the bathroom, she had a major problem with it lol. She always told me off! I don't know what it was lol, but she just didn't like it. It made me giggle every single time. Now when I walk to the bathroom I look at where her cage is, waiting for little chirps of disapproval, but they never come..

She was SO bossy too. Whenever I had her sitting on my shoulder, if she didn't want me to talk, well then I shouldn't talk lol, as you can see in the video..

In her cage she would always flip and do little turns and twists, and she'd twirl around on her perch, she just could NOT sit still.

I just wish I had taken more videos of her silly antics.. I thought I had so much time to do so. I'd hear her talk or see her do something funny and think "Have to get that on video soon!" Wish I did it on the spot. Won't make that mistake again..

Here is a quick kiss.. always kissed on command. She would usually run over to me, but on this occasion she was a little shy because of the camera..

The house is just so quiet now... too quiet. She did NOT stop chattering away. I sat last night just staring into space, Audrey too. And there was this awful silence that Mini would have filled.. it just made me so sad. I think Audrey has started to realize that Mini is gone, she keeps staring at the space where her sleeping cage was, and flying over it. And she sits in the window and stares out to her big cage.

Cutiepie... She was so good with food too, it was hard for me to get her to eat vegies, but after trying and trying finally she gave in. When I'd put spinach or silverbeet in her cage, she'd go nuts! She LOVED it! And she would melt in your hand with cheek pats. She loved them.

It'll take awhile, take your time....When Cracker was killed I threw out his cage right away cause I couldn't stand looking at it as it reminds me of him constantly. You will be heart broken for awhile. Time will mend your heart!!!! Took me a long long time.....

Thanks Mikey, I took her sleeping cage outside right away as I just couldn't bare to look at it. I don't know what I will do with the cages at the moment. I keep looking outside to see her, forgetting she isn't there. Heart break sucks

I'm not the type that throws stuffs but I opened the door and threw out the cage out into the yard. I was that upset and I cried my eyes out. My partner picked up the pieces next morning and dispose of them before I got up. It was too hard for me to deal with....

All behavior that you've described pretty much sounds male to me.... but I know how hard it is to think of a bird as the opposite sex as what you thought he or she was!


Mini was gorgeous, there's no doubt about that! And adorable to boot! At least you have a few videos and pictures to cherish him by! Maybe you should frame one of the pictures? I really love the fluffy one of him! Kind of like a big fluffy cloud in the sky with sunlight!
