must be that time, max's beak bright & warm, he was on the back of my highback desk chair i turned slightly and he butted me in the eye socket with his beak now i have a slightly black eye, i put him back in cage with a talk, got him back out on the chairback again and he struck at my eye again, then bit my finger when i put him back in his cage he also got first blood. looks like it is back to using food to get him caged cause he has learned my tricks to getting him in without biting me which has gone on now for a while
Sammy has been screaming a lot and looks to also be acting goofy. Lily seems normal
and ricky goofy and a hot beak. how long does this last Max is a year and a half old i was thinking it would be another year before i had to deal with this. not

Ouch! Guess I should be thankful Jolly hasn't resorted to head-butting my eye socket! Geez, Max! 'Sup wit' dat?!?

I rather doubt it's hormonal in the same sense, however, as ekkies usually mature sexually at around 3-4 years of age. Some instincts might be kicking in though, in preparation for said maturity, so it's a behavior you definitely want to address right away. And you might want to curb shoulder/back of the chair privileges for a bit, because that's a whole lot of beak. Lol! That's what I did after Maya's one hormonal bite, because ekkies on the shoulder are in easy range of our eyes.

As for how long hormonal episodes last, that varies from one ekkie to the next. This current bout is the longest yet for our resident green lothario. He usually only gets insistent about it for a day or two. (Though admittedly, it might just seem longer now that I'm the focus of his rather raunchy intentions. Lol!)

Other ekkie parronts have mentioned a nearly constant focus on sexual conquest over the course of the first several years of sexual maturity. (Shudder!)
