Parrots
Maya (Female Solomon Island eclectus parrot), Jolly (Male Solomon Island eclectus parrot), Bixby (Male, red-sided eclectus. RIP), Suzie (Male cockatiel. RIP)
As some of you may remember, Jolly has been rather... unusual in his affections. (Well, beyond the already unusual fact of non-psittacine attraction.) I've always clearly been his person, but when hormones hit and he gets that "loving feeling", it's always been geared exclusively toward my wife. I've had quite a few chuckles at her expense as Jolly would say, in context and in a particularly lascivious voice, "Gimme kisssssssss!" right before making his move and totally creeping her out.

Well, apparently what's good for the goose...

I had maybe a few seconds notice when it hit me that his beak was looking more vivid and vibrant than usual, then realized it was also particularly warm... Uh-oh! And suddenly, this nut was grabbing hold of my thumb and looking to mount my hand!

Dude!

Not cool, Jay! We had an understanding, man! You broke the "Bro Code"!

I don't remember the specific page in the "Broble" about getting jiggy with your best friend but I'm sure it's in there somewhere!

Aaaaa, love is in the air!!!! Geee, and I was to the belief that it was only Amazons that clung to the belief that: If you can't Love the one you Love! Love the one you are With! Welcome to becoming: 'With Status' :D

LOL...sorry Steven! Indeed "love is in the air" little Beebers has been trying to get "randy" with my hand!...I know he loves me,but DANG BB...I'm your DAD!

Hahaha, it is rather awkward to be the love interest of an amorous parrot! Sorry Doc, I have to giggle with your wife about this one. Love that Jay!

Aww, congrats. What a special honor Jolly has bestowed upon you. ;) Now it's your wife's turn to giggle. As I'm the one that Duke desires, though, I'm sorry for you both. It's tough to have to keep friendzoning the green monsters.

I didn't know about the beak though. That's fascinating.

Sorry...couldn't resist:D

When Kiwi was going through puberty he was also rather... pervy towards my poor husband. Thankfully, he only had aggressive feelings towards me during that time. Think those were easier to handle than the other kind of feelings:p Hopefully Jolly will soon be "over" this phase!

Page 237, sub-section C: "Thou shalt not attempt feather to skin coupling/getting jiggy/shagging with thine person!"

Are you kidding? Ekkies are all about loving the one(s) they're with! The ladies hold court, entertaining somewhere in the region of 7 highly enthusiastic males, outside of their little love hollows. And the gents are little better, declaring their undying love to ladies scattered far and wide... and determined enough in their efforts that they regularly fly at least 40 miles a day to deliver their regurgitated love offerings to all of their ladies. High polygamy! Hahaha!

Already?!? Wow! I was fortunate with Suzie. He never once tried to strut his stuff my way, instead focusing the full extent of his cockatiel vigor on an apparently well-positioned branch in his abode. Dude was NOT shy about getting his swerve on, though. Didn't matter who was around. If that branch caught his eye...

All I can do here is laugh my fool head off right now. Atta boy Jolly!

Gasp! Where's the solidarity? Giggling away with Aida at my expense! Betrayal most foul! (You're still my Huckleberry, though.)

Ha! That's an honor I could've done without! But at least you know my pain. Madness. Utter madness. And yes, that beak thing is crazy. Never is that candy corn more vivid, bright and warm than when he's getting ready to make his special maneuvers.

So wrong! Hahahahahahahaha! But yeah, that rather rambunctious kakapo parrot was the first thing that came to mind when Jolly pounced. Well... maybe second thing, right after, "Oh, no you didn't!"

Hahaha! Don't you encourage his randy behavior!

Sadly enough, it all started on such a good note. He was drying off after his bath and hanging out with me in the kitchen while I was making his chop. We were watching Empire Strikes Back (him for the first time, me for the millionth) when he surprised me by instantly and accurately mimicking R2-D2's string of tweets and whistles when Luke started levitating his x-wing! He then followed up with his, "Gimme kisssss!" and "Good job, Jolly! Well done!" So I took him up from his perch to let him know how good a boy he was, and he tried to show me how good a boy he really could be!

Sigh...

LMBO!...oh man...I LOVE this forum!! :04: :D :03:

Hahaha! Me too, Jim! Where else could I share this story and find that I haven't completely weirded out my audience?

Hahahahahahahahahaha! No you didn't bust out some Barry White mood music! Oh, high comedy, Uglow! And no, Jim, I won't let Jolly anywhere near this song! It's not like he needs the help or motivation! Hahaha!

When Maya had her first hormonal swing, she didn't handle it very well. I suppose she was just taken off-guard and was a little freaked out by the whole event. It's the one time she's ever bitten me (and boy did she make up for lost time! Lol! Left a scar and all.) But since then, she's been a model citizen.

Jolly is going about it the other way around. Started out handling it well enough... but has now ramped into overdrive! Lol! He has yet to bite. (He wasn't given the name Jolly for nothing!) But when his attempts are rebuffed, he belts out the most frustrated scream imaginable. Just one unmistakably furious scream followed by some definite growls and grumbles as he is put back on his stand.

His frenzy is now at the point that it overrides any consideration of food! (Which is saying a lot for him! He would eat 24/7 if I let him!) In fact, when I take him out of the cage for his morning weigh-in, instead of his usual morning greeting and then looking past my shoulder to see where the food is, he steps onto my hand and IMMEDIATELY attempts to hold my thumb with his beak and assume his position!

Sigh...

Then funny enough, last time I turned down his advances, he even turned to Maya and gave her the "How you doin'?" look. She was not amused, and gave out a frustrated shout of her own. Don't need to be fluent in ekkie to have read that one, bro. You've been thoroughly and unmistakably FRIEND-ZONED, pal. Hahaha!

Not sure if she gave him the boot because he now has "little brother status", or if it was because she was his 3rd choice! Lol! Maya doesn't play runner-up for anyone! Lol!

Funny enough, he got the message right away. Maybe I need to work on my ekkie scream?

If you manage to get the scream down, will you teach me please? Duke sat on my husband's shoulder for hours today, happily burbling and clicking his beak. As soon as he (Duke, that is) turned his attention to me it was all kisses and beak rubbing and . . . well you get the idea.

Unfortunately, I do get the idea. All too well. Lol! I'll have to start practicing my Eclectic Scream right away!

Just wondering...by any chance, did you leave the Rickeybird thread open where Jolly could see it? RB is incorrigible about encouraging bad behavior. Bad bird, bad bird, what you gonna do? What you gonna do when they...never mind.
