Hi, I am a new member, but I just wanted to post and get a second opinion. Last night, my budgie Peter was huddled on the floor of his cage, fluffed up and with his head tucked. He had been acting just fine earlier, so I assumed he was cold, so I put a blanket around his cage. He is acting fine now, eating and playing with his bell, but he doesn't seem as energetic as he usually is. Was he just cold, or is there a more serious problem?

Fluffing up in and of itself may indicate Peter was cold, but combined with sitting on the floor and your observations of lower energy levels I think this would be worth checking out by an avian vet. I've linked a worldwide list of bird specialists below, just in case you don't currently have one ....

Avian Vet Resources

Unfortunately parrots are very good at masking signs of illness, sometimes until they have been sick for some time. But even if there's nothing wrong, it can be worth getting it checked out even if it's just for your peace of mind. I hope little Peter will be ok! 🙏

He is doing much better and has been "talking" to me all day :) but I will check out the vets just in case, thanks!

You should definitely check out the available avian vets in case you need one quickly.
I've had budgies for many years snd I currently have too many (19!). Sleeping on the floor of the cage all fluffed up isn't really normal unless its something he does all the time. A budgie's instinct is to sleep high up on a perch to protect himself from predators. Keep a close eye on him and watch for things like whether his tail bobs up and down a lot when he breathes because that's a sign of respiratory distress. I hope it was just a fluke thing and that he's okay.
