While I was having a shower this morning, 10 out 11 birds were in the bathroom with me.
while the shower was running, most if not all got very sleepy and relaxed.

it's a weird experience to have 10 birds looking down at you in the shower

I got to thinking about the effects a shower/bath has on a bird, other than cleanliness....mind you the article doesn't talk about the relaxing side of it, but I thought the article explains the importance of why a bird needs to bath
so I thought I would share:

I'll fix the link here: Bathing and Showering for Pet Parrots by Steve Hartman ** The Parrot University

This is a very good article I stumbled upon last year. Thanks for sharing, Crimson. I totally agree with you, showers and baths are essential not just for staying clean but for psychological wellness too. I know my sun conure enjoys it a lot. He gets 5 minutes showers everyday if the weather is warm enough. He looks forward to it and even flies to the bathroom sink and perch there till I come in. He also gets relaxed like your birds and even yawns whilst under the mild shower.

PS. That is a lot of birds to fit in the bathroom, that's pretty cool! Do they end up having accidents sometimes? If so, is it a pain to clean up after them?

funny you should mention that, they all turn their backs and drop it right into the shower:rolleyes:

....and yes it's a pain if they do it on the floor, but I clean it everyday.

I have to decline 10 birds looking down at me while I shower....lol..... I bath all mine separately.... :)

Thanks for the article! Bella and Zora love warm showers and get one usually every day. Now, Oliver can be a bit stubborn when it comes to bathing, but he does get a shower every 2-3 days.

lol, normally there is just 2-5, but today all of them flew in like rockets!, I just couldn't turn them away.:D

Now there was a visual. HAHAHAHA!

GREAT article, Beth, thanks so much for sharing!!!

I'm with Mikey on this one. I prefer to shower by my lonesome, but if I the macs need a shower, I put on a bathing suit, since it will most definitely protect my delicate bits. :54:

Oliver is your Senegal, right?....normally Safari(my Senegal) never comes in, ever.....today he flew into the bathroom, and landed in the soaker tub....he couldn't get out, so I rescued him. I placed him on the counter and went into the shower.

Then for some reason, all the birds panicked and started flying around the bathroom. I was worried about Safari the most, he tends to crash land into things and landed in the sink. Because it's slippery, he couldn't get out(geez do you think you could use those wings Safari??)...anyways, I called my daughter in to rescue him. He tends to crash land somewhat.
Normally he baths every few days.

I love to take Rory in the shower with me every morning. It's so cute to just watch him close his eyes and soak up the warm water. He seems to yawn too it's pretty cute. Buying a shower perch was the best investment I ever made for him.

I know, I know, it sounds weird with that many birds, it doesn't happen too often.
they all stay up on the shower ledge, or the perch.;)

I would have to wear armor in the shower to protect my skin from 8 claws digging in and a beak holding on for dear life! Full body armor.
