Shower Perch?

No parrots yet but I have two rescued German Shepherds
I am getting ready for my baby female SI Eclectus to come home. I have purchased the cage and playstand. I want to buy a shower perch but I'm a little leery of the suction cup ones because I keep envisioning it coming down with my baby on it!!!!

Anyone have a suggestion or experience with the suction cup shower perches and if they are truly secure. I would love for my baby to be able to take showers with us but I do not want to traumatize her!!

I bought a shower perch in 2000 when I brought home my Amazon. It has 3 suction cups on it and it has yet to fall. I still use it, it folds in so I never take it off the wall. My Ekkie and my grey use it now. It has been a great thing to have.

What kind of material do you have it suctioned to? Mine would have to be suctioned to tile which from my experience doesn't hold a suction cup as well as glass.

I've never had mine fall off- just one side wil slide down alot. I just put Erin on the bathtub floor so she can walk in the water and out as she pleases.

We've had one for 6 months now...it stays suctioned to the tile, no problem. All the birds use it from the U2's down to the conure....

If the tiles aren't large enough for the suctions, then I can see the perch falling off the wall.

Does your bathroom tub/shower have a door? If so, you could always look into a PVC perch that hangs off of the door?

I have one, I use it for my cag, amazon & now my greenwing baby. It has fallen before but rarely. I now check before putting them on it. I like them, mine also folds into the wall when not in use.

I made one from PVC it hangs over the shower door, it was very easy to make~

I have a suction cup one with three suction cups. I didn't fall for awhile, but now Ricco has chewed the middle suction cup up so it doesn't work. The two still hold him, but he's pretty small. (225 grams) I still use it, but only under close supervision.

That is a great idea. Would you mind terribly posting a picture of it to give me an idea of how to make one!

I purchased a small PVC pipe stand that sits low to the ground. It's waterproof - and if a parrot would fall off, wouldn't go far! I prefer them to sit on that while I do a mist sprayer that falls down gently on them like rain.

Mine has only even fallen when a bird pulled on the suction cups. They quickly learned not to do that and I haven't had a problem since. I love the thing, my only issue is that they seem to only come in colors I find hideous.

I too would be happy to see a photo of the homemade PVC perch that goes over the shower door.

If you buy a suction cup perch and are concerned about it falling, go ahead and suction it, then get something that weights about the same as your baby and hang it over the perch or hanging it from the perch and test it out for a few days or a week of using it like you would with your birdy.
