So, I was channel flipping and stumbled across a show called Dog with a Blog on the Disney channel. The episode in question was called The Parrot Trap. It begins with a man buying his wife a blue and gold macaw because she lied and said she was an animal person. My grievances with the show are as follows.
1) The cage was so small the bird could not fit in it. It never showed the bird in it, but it was implied. There were obviously no toys, lining, food/water bowls.
2) This is the huge one. At the end of the episode, the wife is fed up with the bird so she scares it into flying out the door on purpose. The family is relieved and the dad said the parrot will be ok in the wild because it's smart.
It's a live action show aimed for children. While I don't think any kids will have macaws, I don't agree with the message that you can solve your problem by tossing a creature out a window. Dogs aren't depicted with bad husbandry on shows, why are birds?
