Would love members input on whether you all think we should get another sub forum for "Breeders/Babies". This sub forum will not be used for advertising purposes but instead for members who have experience breeding and raising birds to share their experience and knowledge if members have questions/concerns.

So far your at a 100% yes!:D

I think that is a fabulous idea!!

I'm for it 100%. It's a common enough topic to justify a section dedicated to it.

I can just see though, a little extra mod work when it gets used for advertisement purposes accidentally ;). Still all for it! Good idea :smile049:

Absolutely! The breeding, care, and weaning of babies is highly critical to their development and success as long-lived adult companions!

BAHAHAHAHAH, Julie, I'm dying laughing at the 'accidentally' part followed by the wink. BINGO! :54:

Absolutely! I think it will be a welcome addition! The first months of a bird's life are critical in so many ways, physically and emotionally.

Can we PLEASE?
-tons of people buy unweaned babies no matter what we say, and they need people to reach out to
-it would make it more reasonable to have sticky threads, etc, with some of the general info such as WHY NOT TO DO IT
-those of us who are still rather new to breeding but are 100% dedicated to doing right by our babies could really benefit from the advice of certain people on this forum. There have been times when I have needed help but have hesitated to ask here, lest I encourage those who should not breed to breed. Having a sub forum (I feel) gives the chance for more structure rather than just willy nilly posting about problems in the nest
- understanding what goes into breeding, hand raising, socializing, weaning, etc a bird who will be a healthy adult goes a LONG way toward understanding behavior problems in adult birds, what causes them, and how to address them. It can also equip bird buyers to know what to look for in a breeder and WHY those things are important.
-a deeper understanding of breeder bird health, responsible pairing, etc, can go a long way toward better physical care of birds and understanding physical problems. For example, can't figure out why your bird is blind and seems mentally challenged? Hhhmmm.... Is it a Lutino? We're both the parents Lutino? Bingo- there is your problem. The ino gene, when paired "like with like" can lead to problems like small size (and organ issues because of it), balding, blindness, mental difficulties, etc. that isn't info that is out there on most of our current topics, but it is important info for someone looking for a Lutino bird.

Etc etc etc. yes, please can we have one?

Please! It's a wee dream to have a ringneck pair & I'd love to read the posts of others to help educate myself!

(Just a wee side note: I'd love a breeding pair - I don't intend on Henry being part of that pair...)

This is an awesome idea! I say 1000000% yes!
