none at the moment.
Hello everyone, i am interested in a number of species but over the past year keep on coming back to the idea of a BFA, could enthusiasts please tell me if you believe its suitable and give insight to its personality, i am away 6 hours a day but will take him/her out before i leave and she will stay out when i get home until bed (in total around 8 hours out of cage) i will do free-flight and command training and am willing to spend as much as possible to ensure a happy bird.
I would love insight

I myself adore Amazon’s from afar. They are beautiful, smart, and very intelligent. I’ve had some experiences with a YNA, and a DYH… They scare me. Amazon’s are the only parrot who has tried to attack me as I was walking away, and they are the only ones to take cheap shots at me as well. Usually parrots give off body language that is at least somewhat readable. I am sure when Amazon’s are bonded to someone they are probably very sweet. I’ve just never had that experience.

Yes, there are Amazon enthusiasts on this forum.

ive just red up on these threads, thank you so much! its really great info

Amazons are great as long as you live in THIER world. Step outside, piss them off, and yah, a cheap shot is coming your way. Salty, a very calm and collected Amazon, will nevertheless offer to give me a nip if I piss him off, but knowing him and reading Amazon body language very well, I am ready for those. Way smart, almost too smart for their own good sometimes.

I love Blue Fronts

if you get an Amazon your life and household will revolve around them.

They will influence:
your diet and what you cook with
ability to get other pets
your vacations

Bring a parrot into your home and you for the most part have to accept what you get and work with them to make them happy and well adjusted to a captive life.

The rewards a many, but you have to have the temperment for the downsides.

My Primor is a honeypot, so sweet, but its just his personality and does not have much to do with him being a Red Lored Amazon or anything that we did...we just got lucky.

We had a blue front growing up. She was definitely a one person bird and was very sweet to her person. She was more on the independent side and said a few words and never screamed. One of the great things about Amazons is they have very very clear body language. If they don’t like you … you will know it and then watch out! . Lol
