serious conure help needed!!:(

I have a 2 year old green cheek, he is a very active bird.
EVERY morning when the sun comes he is up and BANGING HIS BELL AND SCREAMING HIS HEAD OFF CONSTANTLY FOR AT LEAST AN HOUR!!
his cage is covered at night with a LIGHT sheet and is taken of when I wake up.is this normal?
if it is, how do I train him to stop?

please , anything will help.

Most birds are vocal at sunrise and sunset. The best thing you can do is not to reward the behavior. Whatever he's screaming for - do not give it to him until he's stopped screaming and he's only making nice noises

Like Devann said, parrots rise with the sun and, being flock animals, they make flock calls to tell the rest of their flock they are there...and in the evening, most parrots make another flock call, for basically the same reason.....because this is a natural habit for parrots, I'm not sure that you can train it out of them, but you could always do a google search for clicker training birds, read through the information and try it.....there are also several videos about clicker training on youtube.....he could also be telling you that it's time to get up and play with him.....

I never trained them to do so, but both of my sun conures wait until someone is up and around in the house before they do their loud screams...you will hear them mumbling between themselves, but no screams until someone is up.....

yeah, I am lucky my bird will not make a peep until I wake up and take the cover off his cage.

You said a light cover, I would suggest a darker cover that blocks out more light. That way you can basically control the light and dark for the bird.

It's also worth trying to keep your waking hours as close as possible. You would not, for example, want to cover a bird at 2030, and only uncover it when you can be borthereh to get up - at maybe 1200.

I'm obviously not saying that you do, it's just something to consider.

My sun conure was big on the morning call too and she was really loud and at the time i lived in a very small condo (so it was like she was screaming RIGHT THERE). I ended up getting really good blinds that blocked the light out and she "usually" stayed quiet until she heard any sounds (which unfortunately living in a small condo development, you could hear a lot of activity from even neighboring units, some people up at 5 AM etc). I also leave my birds full spectrum lighting set on a timer and get up about the same time each day, so they have a routine to get used to. In general that corrected the problem, except in certain unusual situations, which no one can help.

I would suggest a darker cover. Mine are all dark blue (navy).
