September POTM Contest!

I was looking over photos to submit and had the thought that this was a great chance to share a photo with so much more meaning... I confirmed with a caped crusading moderator first, but my photo for this month is a photo of a gorgeous moluccan cockatoo that came into AHW as being too aggressive and vicious to be handled. The people provided this lovely boy with toys, food and water, but he truly had not been handled in what the people guessed was about 20 years. This photo is the first time we gave Tully the chance to snuggle. We had been handling him, and he would scoot up your arm to be against your chest and the day I was doing photos for petfinder, Tully just literally leaned over to the point of falling to snuggle into her chest. So, this photo represents one of the first cuddles and moments of unconditional love this gorgeous boy had known in probably 20 years.... So many other pics I could share too, but this one was just heartbreaking knowing all this lovely boy had wanted for so many years was someone to give him a hug and a little attention.

My entry for the month - gorgeous Tully receiving the cuddle of a lifetime...

She did this for a little while too. After a month or so at the store when she was still weaning off manual feeding she started to be more active.
