scarlet macaw

ive recently purchsed a 6 year old (second hand) scarlett macaw about 12 weeks ago.. he has settled in very well and we have his behavious patterns almost down to a t! just one behaviour of his puzzles me... sometimes if we go to stroke him he will take a finger in his beak, gently, and shake his head up and down and then release my finger.. he continues this several times.. he even lets my husband shake his head slightly shake his head up and down too...
Is this a behaviour we should encourage or not?! i cant seem to find anything online or in any of the books i have purchased

If he bobs his head up and down while holding your finger it is just a feeding response.
