Need help or suggestions. My scarlet was flying to my room and i guess hit the door now she is bleeding but not alot. What should i do..take her to the vet or wait to see what happens in the next hr or so......
How large is it would you say? Even as big as the Scarlets are, they can't lose much blood without it being potentially dangerous. If it is small, apply a paste to the affected area, made from a mixture of water and flour. Or, buy KwikStop paste for it. Either way, it will dry up nicely. I prefer the flour-paste because it is cheaper, it doesn't sting, and for convenience. I had this happen before, did the above; all went well. Hope it works for you!
May I ask, where is the blood coming from? Is it a blood feather, or a scratch/scrape?
Well it seems like the blood stopped on its own but i was just worried cause this is the 1st time ive owned a bird as large as this. I'm not really sure what kind of feather it is at all. My friend who deals with birds told me to apply pressure and it didnt seem to affect her and the blood stopped. I was just afraid that it might be a blood feather but then again i really have no idea
