Hello everyone. My name is Carmen and I did not know that this forum existed as I have been a member of another forum for my grey for over 6 months now.

Back in July, I took in a Grey from some friends of mine that no longer could care for him because the owner had ALS disease and was no longer able to handle him. I bought Sammy to help them out and give him a place to go to since it was rather sudden, and I have had him now for 7 months. I had intended on keeping him but unfortunately like can change and make circumstances change as well which is forcing me to find a new home for him against my better wishes as I love him very much.

So, I am asking anyone that is an experienced CAG handler and has the time and room for him that can give him a permanent home, if they would be interested in buying him from me at a very reasonable price that includes his large cage and giant playgym (shown below). Sammy is 5 years old (we think) and I am his 3rd home. Despite that he is a very laid back bird and I have enjoyed him very much. I love him so much that I think it is better for Sammy in the long run that I find him a permanent home that give him the time and attention that he so much deserves as we all know that these kiddos are like real children. Believe me, I have been in tears over this and I will cry like a baby IF I find him the right home, but I know its best for Sammy and when it comes down to it, doing what is best for Sammy is what it is all about.

WIth that said, I live in Waco, Texas and would love it if someone knows anyone that would be interested in adopting Sammy into their home and I think it would be good for him to be with another CAG too.

PHotos of Sammy and his cage and playgym are below. PLEASE PLEASE spread the word as I just want to find the best home I can for him. He is a good bird and very laid back. He doesn't scream AT ALL and likes to talk and mimic of course since that they are so good at that.

Feel free to reply or call me at (254) 848-9068

Thank you for your reply and comments.
He is gorgeous! I hope someone out there
would like to welcome him into their home.
Thanks again!
Carmen

I hope you can re-home such a lovely bird. Good for you in recognizing that you cannot provide all he needs. Cross my fingers for you. I know it will be difficult for you to part with him. There are a few parrot rescue org. that mabye could help you out. Phoenix Landing is one of them.

I know someone who may be interested. Her daughter just lost her bird - after 32 wonderful years - and would eventually like an African Gray. Are you adopting or selling?

Carmen, my friend is interested. She lives in the DFW area and hopes you all can work everything out. I'm going to forward you phone number to her. Yea! I hope all goes well.

Hello again. Thank you to this forum.
It looks like it found a great home for Sammy as they are coming to get him
this weekend. I am very pleased with how well this forum worked for Sammy
in finding him a perfect match home.

Thanks. Sammy should be just fine now.

I would be interested in speaking with you about Sammy. I have a 19 year old female Simon who is not interested in breeding, but is a very sweet girl. She might enjoy another laid back grey. Feel free to send me a message and we can talk.:blue:

Thank you.
I have someone who has already taking him this weekend.
If that does not work out. I will contact you again.

Thank you again for your interest.

I wanted to share that my friend's daughter, who adopted Sammy, has had a wonderful 4 days with him. He wasn't ready for her to hold him until yesterday afternoon when he put a foot out asking to be picked up. They spent several hours just playing together. I'm sure there will be rough patches in the future, but every relationship has those. Early reports are that it's a happy union!

He's already teasing her dog.

Sounds like a match made in heaven. :D
Already teasing the dog LoL soon he will be barking
Keep us updated
Take care, and that of our feathered friends !!!! :grey:

How much are you asking? I have been looking for a gentle (no-bite) bird for awhile now. I love birds, however they always seem to bite my husband so it just would not work to have a biter in the family. I have a great loving home for a gentle bird.

Thanks

Gail

I live in central OK, by OKC; my family has an African Grey already but I'll ask if they are interested, unless Sammy is already taken!

I'm so sorry you have to re-home the bird; like you said, it may be better for the long run! Anyway...welcome!
