Rubbing beak against cage

Ok- So I'm sure everyones getting annoyed with my million questions but you all are so helpful I cant stop!!

Anyways, Ozzy does this thing where he rubs his beak up and down the bars. He does this when he is inside his cage and when hes on top of it or crawling down the side etc. He will do the right side and then the left and vice-versa. Is he just itching?

I have a vet appointment tomorrow to get a wellness check and a full blood panel (never knew a vet could cost so much!!!!!!!!) so I will know for sure that he is doing ok vitamin wise etc.

Auggie often does this. It seems it might be a bit of 'grooming' or just 'scratching' his beak as it looks like he enjoys it.

Sometimes though he'll also do this when he wants to come out of his cage. Perhaps it's a threat that if we don't open the cage that they'll chew right through the bars!

Lol- When he does it on his door and yells 'HELLLLLLOOOO HELLLLLLOOOO YOOOOHOOOO' I know he wants out! I have also thought its a threat that hes going to bite his way out lol!

Cal does this to clean her beak and gain some attention.

It's almost as if she's playing "jail bird" when they used to clang their metal cups across the bars to make a racket haha!

Sid does this quiet abit and I've always thought of it as part of his grooming routine but maybe I'm wrong.

Birds r doing it cause they want to have a clean and sharp beak. Some do it more then others. Its nothing wrong

The bird beak is sensative and he may just want to have it caressed. Or as others say it is a form of cleaning.

me too! remington does do it more right after he has eatenm cleaning his beak i guess

Perfectly natural and normal behavior, think of beaks much like human fingernails they grow and at some point need to be groomed, in most cases birds can accomplish this by rubbing against objects, you'll often see flaking of the beak, called sloughing, which is also normal, and as stated they also do it after eating to rub off excess food on the beak........don't worry about asking questions, it's better you ask and know, than to not ask, not know, and stress over it, or worse yet have your bird stressed, that is exactly what the forum is here for

Mishka loves rubbing her beak against anything and everything
Whilst cleaning her night cage, early in the morning, I rub water on her beak, and in return she rubs her beak on my fist.
Perhaps its her way of showing love ????
