Roxanne is my rescued blue and gold. She is about three. We are still molting but she is getting many feathers back! When I had gotten her about a year ago, she had been attacked by a 20yr old male. The previous owner fed her cat food and kept her in a tiny garage with a tiny space heater in February. This woman lived in Michigan. She had no feathers on the back of her head, her wings were tattered, and she had the tail of a chicken! As a joke, a hispanic friend of mine called her "pollo azule" or blue chicken. Lol
She was so aggressive and hostile, I could barely feed her. But today, she is getting closer and closer to the end of her molt, loves people and company, and is a happy free roam bird. The second I come home, I get greeted with an overly enthusiastic "Hello!" or "Hi!" and she climbs off her cage and comes running, literally running, to me. She walks right up to company that comes over without a care in the world, just wanting to say hello. Her rehabilitation was very very difficult, one of the hardest things I've ever done, but so worth it! If anyone has any questions, or would like some tips, don't be afraid to ask! Roxanne and I are always willing to inform and help people using our own experiences!
Peace and love from Roxy and I!
