I'd seen her messing with this one feather a lot, and today there was only a little hole in her skin were she pulled it out :( I'm not thinking of it as feather destruction though, because her lower back and under wings are bald when a pin feather is coming in on her lower wing it pokes her bald back. If I had something poking me I would probably want it gone too. Most of the bald area will never get feathers again, and she hasn't plucked a feather in 4+ months until now.

When she goes into a heavy body feather molt I'm going to try misting it to hopefully soften the pin feather so it doesn't bother her as much.

See the skinny pink feather on her lower wing all by itself in the bald area? The annoying pin feather was half a quarter inch below it.

she's just making her self beautiful....even though she already is :)
I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah, it sucks and I wish she didn't, but I'd rather she plucks one feather of annoyance than pluck feathers in general.

Yea, I agree with you. I think she was just uncomfortable, especially since she left that other one in there. If she was plucking, it would likely be gone too by now or she'd be working on it or some others a lot.

In addition to the misting, if anyone in the home takes steamy showers, u could bring her in the room for nice warm moist air every day too.

She sits on the shower door when I take a shower. Rarely does she enjoy her misting so the humid air is the next best thing :)

OK she is allowed one feather. Only one though Rosie. ;) She is looking so good now, just keep up the good work! You are obviously doing everything right!
