I spent my entire night crying in the avian emergency hospital. I watched Jax hatch October 21st at 3:31PM. I've been involved in his handfeeding and raising, and he was finally home. The other birds were in their room playing and Jax and I were in my room cuddling, full of excitement because of his homecoming.
And then the worst thing happened. Kyleigh flew from her room to my room, which she never does, and landed on top of Jax. In fear, she bit his wing as Jax tumbles to the ground. I was able to his heart beat steady and the blood stopped by the time we entered the hospital, but the bleeding started again. He died in my arms.

I know, big birds should be caged when small birds are around. But please understand we were on completely different sides of the house. I don't understand this. I am such an idiot.

Nonetheless, RIP Jax.

:( Oh no! Stephen, I am SO sorry!!!

Please, do NOT blame yourself!! We all know how well Kyleigh does with other birds. This was an accident! NOT your fault!!

Rest easy, pretty Jax!

HUGS to you, my friend!

Ah I'm sorry!

Accidents happen that we can't always prevent. I've had a couple close calls between my different sized birds. I was just lucky something like this didn't happen. My gcc flew upstairs from downstairs where my amazon was out...he then proceeded to attack my amazon...so very close to getting his beaked ripped off by my amazon but luckily was just a scrape on the beak.

I'm so sorry, Stephen. The loss of beautiful little Jax was a tragic accident, but still an accident, please don't blame yourself.

Fly free Jax, you will be remembered.

I'm very sorry.....Don't be too hard on yourself..... :(

I am SO sorry this terrible accident happened, Stephen. We all know how careful you are with your babies - I'm sure you never expected Kyleigh to fly across the house to find you and Jax.

I hope you won't be too hard on yourself.

Fly happy and free, little Jax.

Stephen, I am so sorry:( Please do not blame yourself, it was totally not your fault:(
Fly free, Beautiful Jax, you will be missed.

I am so sorry, Stephen. Jax knew he was deeply loved.

Please don't blame yourself or Kyleigh for this accident.

Of Stephen that sucks! I am so SO sorry! What a crappy accident, with the worst price. I agree with the others though - an accident. Look after yourself over the next wee while xx

Yall have been more helpful and understanding than most of my family and friends. I'm still baffled by it. I reenacted it today. I sat in my room and sure enough Kyleigh flew through the hall way and the turned into my room. I didn't her flight skills were so sharp, shes gotta tuck in hee wings through the hall way.

I'm just killing myself here.

Sorry to hear this:( Accidents happen. Not your fault at all. Please forgive yourself. I can tell your love for your birds is great and you were not neglectful in any way. Warm wishes to you and your family (feathered and not), and much strength to get through this:)

Oh my gosh Stephen I am so sorry for your loss of baby Jax! My heart breaks for what you are feeling right now. Just remember it was completely an accident due to size difference, and one you could never have seen coming. Hugs to you. You are still an exemplary parrot dad.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss, Stephen. As everyone else has been saying, please don't be too hard on yourself. It's a tragedy, but there's no blame to be assigned, here.

Fly free, Jax! You were loved.

Oh I am SO SORRY to hear this!!! A terrible accident and I understand how you can beat yourself up after the fact (I would absolutely do the same thing), but it is truly just an accident. RIP to your sweetie. Again, I'm so sorry.
