We have recently purchased two gray ring neck parrots one male and one female after doing alot of reading we realized that it is their mating season so decided to put a nesting box in their cage to possibly get them to breed since this is our first time doing this we are kinda confused by their activity they at first seemed very non interested with the box and just as recently as last night the male got in the box and as of today and right at this moment to be exact they are both in the box together. Is this normal of their mating rituals? Why would they get in their together especially the male at first it was as if the male was checking out the box to make sure it was safe for her and she was poking her head in and out but not fully getting in. Also once they do mate how long does it take for her to lay her first egg?
