- Riley-white faced grey cockatiel (hatch date 6-28-2014) RIP Halloween-pied cockatiel
So everyday I have moved atleast one thing in Rileys cage or added/removed something she hasn't had any choice but to get used to change. Today is no different. I originally went to the country store to pick up another bag of pellets but wanted to get the cockatiel size this time (last time I got parakeet sized) Well they were out so I decided to get a new toy and I was going to get the teaser but then I saw they had on with beads so I got that one because she loves beads and currently doesnt have any bead toys. I also got her some nutriberries decided to try them out and see if she likes them (none of my other tiels have ever liked them). I got the classic ones because they were the better value. When I got them home I tried offering one to her figuring since you can clearly see the seeds in them she would like them. Well she wouldnt go near them and instead squeaked at them. Well I had the container open as I decided to put a few in her food dish in hopes that would entice her to eat them. Well as I turned around to put them up she flew to me from her cage (about 5-6 feet) and landed on the container and started eating them from the container that werid little bird. I made her get off the container and back to her cage so I could put them up into the storage tote I keep all extra bird things in. I kept a couple out so she could eat them while I made a call to the avian vet so she can get her first check up and a possible beak triming I know shes young but it looks as though she needs it as her beak doesn't fully close. I had the phone on speaker and the entire time she was chirping into the phone and biting it or she would walk up to me and bite my lips. Lets just say that phone call was less than easy to get through. So she has got a new toy a new treat and a vet appointment is scheduled. She also got a new dig box and is trying to tear apart my key board as I type this. So many first new things for her. And no this is NOT the first time I have been on the computer while shes out. And Rocky got a new bone today for his crate so he has been slamming it down on the bottom of the crate (really it's slipping from him but it makes a loud noise) and Riley hasn't freaked out or startled. once about the sound
