Rescuing rainbow lorikeet!

ok so I have actually been researching about Rainbow Lorikeets not because I wanted one really but because I found them very interesting after I watched a documentary on them. Now my family friend is close friends with someone that needs to find a home for theirs. He is 6 months old and in fine health just needs a new home and my friend knows I am a crazy bird lady and would give him a good home so I am going to get him sometime soon. I am researching like crazy now and wanted some tips from Rainbow Lorikeet owners.

Hi, I have a chattering lory. Lories have a special diet, and liquidy droppings. I use small binder clips to attach cloth in strategic places on the outside of the cage. Place perches where lory will direct droppings in a preferred area of the cage - move the perch as necessary.

I feed our lory in the kitchen, dry nektar in one cup next to a cup with water - in the morning and a few times in the evening. A clean dish of drinking water is in the cage at all times. Bathing is done in our shower stall - it provides plenty of romping around room for the playful lory and contains all the water splashing. I feed a nutrition complete nectar - I order it directly from a supplier in Florida, but you may find one near you. It is delicious smelling and a beige color. Nekton-Lori is the brand. It has kept our lory happy and healthy for 15 years. You can get even get it from Amazon, but it's much more expensive. The supplier in Florida sells it for wholesale prices.

We love lories, they can be potty trained - ours is. There's endless hours of fun with these little bundles of joy. They love to run around on the floor and play with loose toys, hacky sacks are a favorite toy - not for inside the cage though.
