Then have you tried a big bird bath and just put it in her cage ? Or near it ?

Yes, I'm being patient...she's already come a long way in a short time. I think she was really mistreated and doesn't know how to do much right now. I'm convinced she doesn't know how to fly either.

Got another idea, do you have another bird ? You could mist you other bird and when Rena Sees how much fun it is maybe he will join too. Also maybe you could make you bird fly around a room and Rena might see it and try ?

Update on Rena:
Today was her SECOND shower. The first time, I know it wasn't recommended, but I got her to step up on a perch and put her into the shower (on a shower perch). She cried and whined the whole time like a puppy. It wasn't easy to do but I know it was good for her. SHe didn't like it, and would not let me dry her off. BUT, she wasn't scratching afterward, and in 5 minutes she came over to see me and let her pat her, so she didn't hate me.

Today, I got her up on the shower perch and sat next to her for about 5 mins. She was drenched, but not crying the whole time. She moved under the water, and seemed to somewhat enjoy it. After the shower, I towel dried her a little (she hates towels...tears them up), and she stepped right up on me for the first time. I walked her over to her cage and she jumped right up on top. Just a few mins later I went over for a pat and handed her one of her fav treats, a shelled almond.

Her feathers are filling in nicely, and I'm hoping to have a better pic of her soon for all of you. She doesn't seem to be plucking at all anymore, and is out of her cage 6-8 hrs a day. She willingly goes in for food & drink and comes back out again, and also walks over & onto her grapevine tree that is next to her cage. Other than the shower, she refuses to step up, but allows me to pat and preen her behind her head...she's coming around!

You saved her life! Thank you for keeping us updated, I cant wait to see her with her feathers all filled out. You restore my faith in the human race.

Rena is a gorgeous girl, even with a few feathers missing. She is definitely improving with your loving care. She sounds to have been mistreated, but thankfully you got her before it went so far as to destroy her trust in humans completely or develope a serious illness.

You have my upmost respect for the great work you are doing with Rena!

Rena is lucky to have you. Sounds like she is coming along nicely :) Keep us updated, looking forward to more pics.

Here are a couple pictures of her feathers growing in. Yes, you see her on my hand in the first one. :) She is now stepping up on command. She has some cage aggression still, she doesn't like me in there at all, but in time I think she will be just fine. She is out from about 9AM to 5-6PM with the exception of my wife and/or I leaving the house. SHe has a small play stand next to her cage she goes back and fourth to.

The second pic...she has some yogurt on her face that she will wash off in the shower later today.
