I had a gorgeous red tail hawk visit me today in my backyard, so I grabbed my camera so I could share with my fellow bird-nerds [emoji41]

My favorite.....

My favorite in black and white....

You lucky, lucky, girl! What a spectacular visitor! All the photographs are breathtaking, I think the fifth one is my favorite.

Thank you, thank you [emoji4]

I *think* this guy (?) is a juvenile who possibly fledged earlier this month~ he was sort of flapping about, jumping from branch to branch, stretching his wings, etc so it made me think he's still getting the hang of things.....but I'm no expert~ it just seemed like he was practicing.

Wow! Those are some great pictures you took of that beautiful bird!

Spectacular photo sequence, Shirre! How far away were you??

Thanks Scott!!

Probably about 80 ft?? I used a 250mm lens to shoot the pics, and then blew them up a bit while I was editing them.

He's an extremely majestic looking fellow! And how amazing that you were able to capture such a gorgeous creature in these stunning photos!

So my falconer friend confirmed its a juvenile passage red tail hawk ~at this point they're most likely still being fed by the parents too.
