Red Fronted Macaw Advice

If anyone can help me with this I would really appreciate it.
I have only had my new 7 month old male Red Fronted macaw for a little less than a week & 1/2.
He just screams or very loudly squawks almost all the time if I don't cover the cage. He has food, water, a nice manzanita perch, at least 4 toys, food & water. He is also in a very large cage as compared to his size.
If I let him out he tries to fly away if I try to get him to step up.
I have been sitting by the cage & talking to him, I give him peanuts as a treat, he hasn't seemed to get more used to me or want any more to do with me. The loud screams are driving me nuts!! Soon my neighbors are going to be calling the police. I live in my own home but the nieghbors are not that far away & it is summer so I would like to be able to have my windows open. I don't think that I can bond with him or work with him when he keeps doing this. No young parrot that I have ever gotten has ever acted like this to me. I had 5 previously years ago that I each got as a baby. I know that it has only been a very short period of time, but I feel like I made a huge mistake. The breeders said that he was not loud & that he would just squawk or scream loudly a few times a day at dawn & dusk. He does not seem used to being around people. I feel like the breeders misrepresented what I got .
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Does he used to have friends and companion around him ? maybe now he is all alone and lit lonely and need some time to get use to the new environment .. trying showing him video and some music ~~

That's a good suggestion. We leave the radio on for our birdies when we can't be in the bird room with them.

Have you contacted the breeder about this? If she misrepresented or you feel that you just can't get the squawking under control, will she take him back? I know that's kind of a last resort, but our breeder tells all of her adoptive families to contact her if something happens and they can't keep the bird. She'll help rehome or sometimes just take the bird back, especially if it's a baby.

I did contact the breeder & they said to send the bird back, it is obviously unhappy. They want to send me a newly weaned Red Front when it is ready, but at this point I don't think that I want a Red Front, as they seem too noisy to be in my house & live peacefully with me. They will not just give me a refund.

I'm so sorry that you're turned off of RFMs. They really are wonderful birds. I'm not exagerating when I say that our Jade doesn't make flock calls and is generally very quiet. She does jabber and make noises but nothing compared to our Alexandrine and not as loud as our kids were when they were little. The loudest she gets is when our Alex is being loud and she screeches, I believe, to tell him to be quiet.

I would encourage you to try again, because they are worth it.

I have a 6 month old CAG. She is super outgoing and loves to be the center of attention. My amazon used to be top dog, but Ida took over very quickly and Bean backed down without a fight. I was really surprised by that. Good luck with whatever you decide on.

Maybe give another red fronted another chance ~~ it might be diff ~~
