The main reason not to get a Senegal is the same reason not to get any parrot- each parrot is an individual and tends to defy any species-specific stereotypes. That, and all parrots can bite, scream, and generally behave badly, especially when they transition from a sweet baby that "loves" you into an unruly, rebellious teenager that seems to hate you. People, however, still chose to have children and don't seriously consider rehoming them when the going gets tough! If you can accept this then there's really no good reason not to get a Senegal. What's nice about them is they're relatively small but will still provide you with the big parrot experience you want that, as much as I love them, you just don't get with budgies and cockatiels.
